HOW TO ORGANIZE A PLAYROOM

HOW TO ORGANIZE A PLAYROOM

When you get home and find toys scattered all over the house, but your child is not interested, do you feel troubled? Don’t worry. This article will teach you step by step how to set up a playroom and build a starting point for your child to activate their imagination and creativity.

Step 1: Evaluate your space.

A play space is not necessarily the bigger the better; the more important thing is its layout. You need to comprehensively consider factors such as lighting, ventilation, and floor conditions. You also need to check the furniture inside to see if it is easy to collide with. A safer environment allows children to explore freely.

Step 2: Define your categories.

After sorting out all the toys in your home, it is not enough to just pile them up simply. You need to set up different zones according to your child’s age and preferences, such as a reading zone, a building block zone, etc. Therefore, you need to stick corresponding labels on each toy, which will make your subsequent arrangement very organized.

Step 3: Take out all items.

This step is very physically demanding, and you can complete it over several days. During the moving process, you will observe these items more carefully. For some toys that are damaged or cannot arouse your child’s interest, you can choose to donate them; for some toys that cannot be used temporarily, you can choose to store them. After completing this step, you will have a very clean area, which is much more efficient than working in a messy environment.

Step 4: Divide the room into several quadrants.

A small play area is a small world for a child. You can imagine your child doing different things in different areas, and use furniture or the corners of the space as natural dividers. If there is a space with good lighting, it can be used as the child’s reading area. If there is a complete wall, it can be used as the child’s painting area. If you find that some furniture is no longer suitable during this step, you can also replace it to increase the space of the play area.

Step 5: Buy suitable furniture.

In the previous steps, you have roughly planned the required furniture, so in this step, you need to buy and install it. When choosing furniture, you need to consider the child’s needs, such as the child’s height and whether there is a rounded corner anti-collision design. You also need to consider whether it has a larger storage function so that the child has more activity space.

Step 6: Put all things in the new place.

You have planned very carefully before, so in this step, you just need to move them to your designated place. It may be very physically demanding, but you are already not far from success at this time. During the process of placing things, remember to consider the child’s height and put the things in a place that is easy for them to take by themselves.

Step 7: Stick labels on each storage box.

After sorting out, you can stick labels on the storage boxes, so you don’t have to open the boxes to search every time. If the child can’t read yet, you can also use drawing to tell the child where each item is placed. Cultivating children’s storage awareness from an early age can help them establish a sense of order earlier.

Step 8: Consider toy rotation.

If you don’t have enough space, it may be difficult to implement this option. If you have enough space, you can divide the toys into two or three groups and rotate them every few weeks. Because children’s sense of freshness is short-lived; if all toys are displayed, they may get bored after playing for a period of time.

Step 9: Enjoy the child’s new space.

When everything is ready, I believe the children can’t wait to come in. At this time, you can observe the child’s activities and make adjustments to some details. Finally, enjoy it with the children!
